green one-way walks
Getting to the start of the walk without a car is not only good for the environment but it means you're not bound to finish where you begun. This frees you up nicely to walk one-way with a sense of choice and independence. You can even decide these things on the day depending on the weather/ mountain conditions and the lie of the land and your own inclinations at the time. Of course it is also good to have a plan and options of how you will get home!
This way of walking is immensely satisfying. In this way I am able to leave my house on foot at 8am, catch a train for 5 stops, catch a bus for 35 minutes, start walking at 9:45 and then walk one-way over the sumit of Snowdon. When I come down off the mountain I am able to catch a shorter bus ride, repeat the same 5-stop train journey and finally walk up the hill to my house for 18:30. A wonderful day!
